Site location and context

The IBA is located in the highly developed central part of Russia, at the boundary of forest and forest-steppe habitat zones.

Habitat and land use

Includes mixed, wet and coniferous forests in the Zhizdra river valley, forming one of the largest forest massifs in central Russia.
