Site summary
The site boundary is based upon a seaward extension of 92.6 km around Johnston Atoll to encompass the foraging range of IBA threshold numbers of waterbirds based upon a 2007 population estimate of 380,004 individuals from US Fish and Wildlife Service, Unpublished data in Flint, E. (2011) Unpublished excel table of seabird populations from US Minor Outlying Islands and Rose Atoll National Wildlife Monument, and to correspond with the boundary of the Pacific Remote Islands Marine National Monument.
