Site description (2014 baseline):
Jabal Zuqar/Hanish Group, which comprises:
Jabal Zuqar Island, Hanish al Kubra, Hanish As Sughra, Low Island, North Round Island, Quoin Island, Double Peak Island, Suyul Hanish plus many smaller islands, sandbars and rocks
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Threats: Any major Red Sea islands such as the Jaza'ir al-Hanish are visited by military and fishermen. Egg-collecting is practiced by both and some of the larger islands have rotating human populations and/or feral dogs and or cats. Disturbance can be a major threat. Probably also impacted by floating rubbish, especially plastic.
