Site description (2000 baseline):

A large, shallow eutrophic lake connected to the sea, with surrounding areas of peatland and reedbed (Phragmites). Böhmke and Werder are two small islands in the western part of the lake. Fishing takes place and surrounding meadows are grazed.

National Partial International HighIBA overlaps with Nature Reserve. IBA overlaps with Special Protection Area.
