Site description (2000 baseline)
Freshwater pools formed by peat-cutting in the pre-Alps, south of Lago d'Iseo. The pools are fringed by reedbeds, wet meadows and woodlands. Most of the peat was extracted after the Second World War. The main land-uses are nature conservation and recreation activities.
Key biodiversity
A breeding and wintering site for waterbirds and reedbed passerines.
