The IBA includes the city of Ioannina and the surrounding arable land and hills.
The site is important for species associated with arable agriculture.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threat is the intensification of agriculture. The demolition of old buildings is a particular threat to
Falco naumanni (`Other' threats).
