Ilawa Forest

IBA Justification

The site was identified as internationally important for bird conservation in 2010 because it was regularly supporting significant populations of the species listed below, meeting ('triggering') IBA criteria.

Populations meeting IBA criteria ('trigger species') at the site:
Species Red List Season (year/s of estimate) Size IBA criteria
Osprey Pandion haliaetus LC breeding (2009) 2 pairs C6
White-tailed Sea-eagle Haliaeetus albicilla LC breeding (2007–2008) 9–13 pairs C6
Middle Spotted Woodpecker Leiopicus medius LC breeding (2007) 100–140 pairs C6
Bluethroat Luscinia svecica LC breeding (2007) 21–27 pairs C6
Red-breasted Flycatcher Ficedula parva LC breeding (2007) 300–400 pairs C6

IBA Conservation

Ideally the conservation status of the IBA will have been checked regularly since the site was first identified in 2010. The most recent assessment (2009) is shown below.
