Site description (2009 baseline):

Located in the north-eastern part of the Inner Mongolia Plateau. There are 19 significant freshwater and saltwater lakes in the IBA, which are surrounded by reedbeds and marshy habitats.

Non-bird biodiversity: Animals include Procapra gutturosa, Marmota spp. and Spermophilus dauricus.

The IBA includes a county-level nature reserve (68,927 ha) which was established in 2000.
