Huihe Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in Hulun Buir League, 30 km from Hailar City. The Huihe is a river which flows north-eastwards from the Da Hinggan Ling mountains to the Hailar He river. The IBA includes many shallow marshes, lakes and ponds, and this is one of the most important reed production area in Inner Mongolia.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Paeonia lactiflora and Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica. Nationally protected animals include Felis manul, Procapra gutturosa, Lutra lutra and Lepus timidus.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Huihe Nature Reserve was established in 1997, and upgraded to a national nature reserve in 2002.
