Site description (2002 baseline)
Hostýnské vrchy hills are part of the Carpathian range and their top peak is Keleèský Javorník with the height of 865 m. Forests cover over 90% of this IBA, meadows, pastures, streams and human settlements are found in the remaining parts. About 60% of the forests are coniferous, predominantly spruce monoculture, 30% of the forests are beech, also mainly monoculture. Of the original fir-beech forests rich in herbaceous undergrowth, only remnants have been preserved at localities that are now nature reserves.
