Hostrup Sø, Assenholm Mose and Felsted Vestermark


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A large lake surrounded by meadows, heathland, bog and forest. Percentage cover of habitat and land-use types are poorly known.



Key biodiversity
Several species listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, including Botaurus stellaris, Circus aeruginosus, Haliaeetus albicilla, Bubo bubo and Lanius collurio, have been recorded breeding at the site but no recent data are available.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Formerly Hostrup lake was an important botanical locality but nutrient pollution and the abandonment of grazing have resulted in the loss of several rare species.



Protected areas
National None International High1,330 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Hostrup Sø, 1,330 ha).
