Site description (2000 baseline)
A shallow brackish water arm of the Limfjord, separated from the main fjord by a road embankment and bordered by coastal saltmarshes and agricultural areas.
Key biodiversity
The most recent data available for many non-breeding birds date from 1987 and 1988 when more than 20,000 waterbirds occurred at the site. Philomachus pugnax and Recurvirostra avosetta, listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, bred at the IBA in 1983.
