Site description (2000 baseline)
The site was formerly a clearing pond for an iron-ore company. The water is brackish.

Key biodiversity
This is an important area for waterbirds and species breeding in reedbeds (Phragmites). Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Crex crex (passage).
