Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A large mountain area encompassing mixed forests of
Fagus and
Picea, heathland, cliffs, screes and rivers.
The site is a major migratory bottleneck, where more than 20,000 raptors regularly pass (including
Pernis apivorus 18,000;
Milvus migrans 13,000;
Milvus milvus 4,600) and 15,000
Grus grus.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Hunting pressure is high. The construction of small houses is also a threat.
