Site location and context
Hasuhai is located on the flood plain of the northern bank of the Huang He (Yellow River), in an old channel of the river. The southern section of the lake has extensive reedbeds and bulrushes suitable for breeding birds, and the IBA is an important breeding and staging area for waterbirds. Over-fishing has caused serious disturbance to birds, and an increase in tourist activities is also affecting birds and their habitats.

Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a county-level nature reserve in 1996.
