Site summary
The Guyana North East Coast IBA (GY-009) includes most of Guyana's coastline east of Georgetown, extending from the intertidal mudflats inland to encompass agricultural lands including rice and shrimp farms. The area is heavily impacted by human settlements, infrastructure, and agriculture but contains significant stands of mangrove forest and is particularly important for migrating and wintering shorebirds.
