Site description (1999 baseline):

Site location and context

Located around 24 km south-west of Purwokerto. Gunung Slamet is the second highest mountain in Java after Gunung Semeru.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Hylobates moloch, Presbytis comata, Trachypithecus auratus (Nijman & Sozer 1995, Nijman 1997).

Protected areas

Proposed as Nature Reserve. Guci Nature Reserve (2 ha) includes in this site, declared based on SK Pemda tahun 1924 (Anon 1997, Anon 1998).
