Site description (2003 baseline):

Key biodiversity
Thiollay (1995, 1996a) found Wallace's Hawk-eagle Spizaetus nanus in Rimbo Panti Nature Reserve (not in Gunung Singgalang area), and Sunda Wrinkled Hornbil Aceros corrugatus. This area is one of five locations for Sumatran Ground-cuckoo Carpococyx viridis. There is no record of this species in this area since 1916. This bird is one of the globally threatened and restricted-range species (Collar & Long 1996, Stattersfield et.al. 1998, BirdLife International 2000)



Habitat and land use
Lower and upper mountain forest.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Firewood collection and forest clearence for plantation (Anon 1995).



Protected areas
This area is a protected Forest (for watercatchment area. 9659 ha of this area is proposed as Nature Reserve (Anon 1995).
