Site location and context
There are 14 settlements on the coastal area. This area is a hunting and forest product collection site for local people. Most of the people work as farmer and fisherman. Main comodities are clove, nutmeg and coconut for copra.
Non-bird biodiversity: Cervus timorensis moluccensis, Hydrosaurus amboinensis, Phalanger orientalis and Spilocuscus maculatus chryssorhous (BKSDA Wilayah VIII Maluku-Irian Jaya 1996, Hitipeuw & Tuhumury 1999).
The main habitat is evergreen rainforest (Monk et.al.1997). This area is used for hunting and forest product collection by local people.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Clearence of natural habitat for plantation, shifting agriculture and bird catching.
18620 ha of this area is declared as Nature Reserve based on SK Menteri Kehutanan No. 805/Kpts-II/1993 on 30 November 1993.
