Site location and context
Located around 24 km east of Jepara, Gunung Muria is an inactive volcano.
Non-bird biodiversity: Trachypithecus auratus (Nijman 1997)
Lowland rainforest and upper mountain forest (MacKinnon
et.al.1982, Whitten
et.al.1996)Although only few information already known from this site, but based on the good forest condition it is predicted that the site is important for biodiversity.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Clearence forest for settlement (MacKinnon
et.al.1982).
23000 ha of this area is proposed as nature reserve.
