Site location and context
Located around 30 km east of Surakarta (Solo) and consists of 2 mountains, Gunung Lawu (3265 m) and Gunung Jokolanangan (2208 m).
Non-bird biodiversity: Presbytis comata Trachypithecus auratus (Nijman 1997)
Lowland rainforest and mountain rainforest (MacKinnon
et.al.1982, Anon 1993, Whitten
et.al.1996)
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Forest cutting and illegal forest clearence for settlement (MacKinnon et.al.1982).
64.3 ha of this area is declared as Grojogan Sewu Recreation Park based on SK Menteri Pertanian No.264/Kpts/Um/10/1968 (Anon 1997, Anon1998).
