Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
The Grigne is a mountain complex located in the south-central Alps, on the east side of Lake Como, north of the town of Lecco. It includes broadleaved forests, alpine grasslands and rocky areas. The main land-uses are cattle-rearing and nature conservation.



Key biodiversity
An important site for Milvus migrans and mountain bird species.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The most important threats are the reduction in traditional agricultural activities and the lack of management for conservation.



Protected areas
National High International None14,038 ha of IBA covered by Nature Park (Grigne, 14,038 ha).
