Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A very large forest area with glades, lakes and some small bogs. Formerly very extensive wetlands occurred within the forest, covering 70% of the site 150 years ago, but most have been drained and only small areas remain.



Key biodiversity
Several species listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive breed at the site, including Pernis apivorus, Accipiter gentilis, Caprimulgus europaeus, Dryocopus martius and Lanius collurio.



Protected areas
National Low International High6,130 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Grib Skov, 6,130 ha).
