Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A fast-flowing river with woodland, scrub and cliffs. Major roads run through the area.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for breeding raptors. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aegypius monachus (breeding).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Mass tourism disturbs breeding species. Aegypius monachus and Gyps fulvus have been successfully reintroduced.



Protected areas
National None International Low130 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Gorge de la Jonte, 130 ha).
