Site location and context
Goč-Željin is located south of the Zapadna Morava river and north of the Koznička river. The area consists of two mountains (Goč and Željin) interspaced by several narrow river valleys. Numerous streams and small rivers, flowing away to the Zapadna Morava river in the north and Rasina in the south. The Goč-Željin area is overgrown mostly with beech and fir forest stands, but also horbeam and oaks in lower parts of masiff. Both mountains is composed of crystalline shales, whereas there is a substantial part of serpentines. Several small, scatterd villages are scatered on the edge of area borders covers in total four municipatilies (Vrnjačka banja, Kraljevo, Aleksandrovac and Raška).
