Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context

A relatively deep eutrophic freshwater lake surrounded by reedbeds and swampy Betula and Alnus thickets; close to urban areas.

Key biodiversity

Sterna hirundo and Alcedo atthis, listed on Annex I of the EC Birds Directive, breed at the site.

Protected areas

National Partial International High1,290 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Furesø including Vaserne and Farum Sø, 1,290 ha).
