Site description (2009 baseline):
Site location and context
Located in Fujiang village, Changshan County. The vegetation in the IBA is mainly evergreen broadleaf-coniferous mixed forest, and on the eastern, western and south-western sides of Taigong Shan are reservoirs and fishponds, with hilly areas, wet agricultural land and streams. Human disturbance is not serious. Egrets colonised a 3 ha nesting site at Taigong Shan in 1988, with Ardeola bacchus (4,100 birds in 1994), Egretta garzetta (1,900 birds in 1994), Nycticorax nycticorax (1,100 birds in 1994), Bubulcus ibis (about 200 birds in 1994).
Non-bird biodiversity: No information.
Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Partially protected, Taigong Shan was designated as an egret reserve (300 ha) in 1991 by Changshan County Government.
