Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A freshwater wetland in Tuscany, a few kilometres south of the town of Montecatini. There are reedbeds, open waters, a wet woodland (Bosco di Chiusi) and surrounding cultivated areas.



Key biodiversity
An important site for breeding herons and reedbed passerines.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are hunting and water management.



Protected areas
National Partial International None300 ha of IBA covered by Regional Nature Reserve (Padule di Fucecchio e Lago di Sibolla, 560 ha).
