Site description (2019 baseline)
The IBA Fruška gora is positioned at the southern ridge of the Pannonian Basin, along the right Danube riverbank. This hilly area represents the dominant orographic unit of the Vojvodina Province with highest altitude of 539 m above sea level. It has an elongated shape, 78 km long and around 15 km wide. The Fruška gora has specific and unique natural phenomenon built of rocks from nearly all geological periods, from the oldest Palaeozoic to Mesozoic, Neogene and Quaternary. Forest covers more than 80% of area where linden forest dominate growing over one third of area. Entire area is surrounded by eight municipalities which consists 27 settlements.
