Site location and context
Freshwater lakes in an area of heathland now largely converted to conifer plantations; some patches of heathland and tiny remnants of natural
Quercus forest remain.
Numbers of passage and wintering ducks have declined, probably due to decreasing water quality.
Mergus merganser and
Anas crecca were recorded in internationally important numbers (meeting current IBA criterion B1i) in 1983.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Agricultural intensification has resulted in deteriorating water quality.

International High830 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Flyndersø and Skalle Sø, 830 ha).
