Fengyang Shan - Baishanzu Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located on the boundaries of Longquan City and Qingyuan County, is the central part of Donggong ranges of the Wuyi Shan mountains. The highest and second highest peaks in Zhejiang, Huangmaojian at 1,921 m and Baishanzu at 1,856.7 m, are both located in the IBA.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Emmenopterys henryi, Liriodendron chinense and Fokienia hodginsii. Animals include Panthera pardus, Neofelis nebulosa, Capricornis sumatraensis and Macaca mulatta.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
The provincial-level Fengyang Shan Nature Reserve was established in 1975 and the provincial-level Baishanzu Nature Reserve in 1985. In 1992 these two reserves were combined to form the Fengyang Shan-Baishanzu National Nature Reserve (26,051 ha).
