Site location and context
A IBA estende-se ao longo da costa, desde a Ribeira da Fajã das Almas até à Ribeira do Pico das Brenhas e compreende uma faixa desde a beira-mar até ao rebordo da falésia. Os habitats naturais dominantes são as falésias com vegetação das costas macaronésicas, a vegetação vivaz das costas de calhaus rolados e os matos macaronésicos endémicos.
Important for breeding Cory's Shearwaters, which occur in large numbers.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Feral terrestrial mammals (dogs, cats, rats and weasels) affect most of the seabirds, especially those who nest in holes and burrows. Invasive plant species like the cane reduces the available nesting habitat for seabirds.
