This is an important site for wintering and passage waterbirds.

Pressure/threats to key biodiversity

Habitats are threatened by the abandonment of stock-raising and the intensification of fishing activities, the latter involving the removal of reedbeds.

Protected areas

National Low International None77 ha of IBA covered by Hunting Reserve (Etang de Malzone, 77 ha).
