Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
An area of shallow brackish water with associated freshwater ponds, marshes, reedbeds (Phragmites), rivers, riverine forest, vineyards and arable fields.



Key biodiversity
This site is important for breeding species of herons. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aythya nyroca (wintering).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Water-levels are maintained at a level too high for many species (`Other' threat, above) during the breeding season. Disturbance is caused by tourists.



Protected areas
National Low International None145 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Mas Larrieu, 145 ha). Part of IBA covered by Hunting Reserve.
