Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
An area of shallow brackish water with associated freshwater ponds, marshes, reedbeds (
Phragmites), rivers, riverine forest, vineyards and arable fields.
This site is important for breeding species of herons. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Aythya nyroca (wintering).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Water-levels are maintained at a level too high for many species (`Other' threat, above) during the breeding season. Disturbance is caused by tourists.

International None145 ha of IBA covered by Nature Reserve (Mas Larrieu, 145 ha). Part of IBA covered by Hunting Reserve.
