Site description (2000 baseline)
Lakes, marshes, and wet meadows, surrounded by woodland, hedges and cultivated land, and plains. Human activities include agriculture, stock-raising, fishing and hunting.
Key biodiversity
This wetland area is important for breeding waterbirds and passage storks, raptors and cranes. The site is a migratory bottleneck, where more than 3,000 Grus grus regularly pass.
