Site location and context
An estuary with mudflats, saltmarshes, reedbeds (Phragmites) and aquatic vegetation, freshwater marshes, wet meadows, and arable fields.



Key biodiversity
The site is important for breeding waterbirds.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Urbanization, high hunting pressure (including illegal night hunting) and the conversion of wet meadows into arable fields are the main threats.



Protected areas
National None International Partial2,500 ha of IBA covered by Special Protection Area (Marais de Fouras, Baie d'Yves et Marais de Rochefort, 11,679 ha).
