Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
An almost flat peninsula of low sand-dunes with a lagoon, saltmarsh and
Tamarix scrub.
This is an important site for wintering ducks and breeding, passage and wintering waders. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Branta ruficollis (up to five wintering individuals),
Aythya nyroca (passage).
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are from dredging and increased tourism. The area is a candidate SAC.

International None450 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Tsairi/Epanomis, 500 ha).
