Site description (2000 baseline)
An archipelago of small islands and islets, of volcanic origin, in the Tyrrhenian Sea, north of Sicily. The islands are Alicudi, Filicudi, Salina, Lipari, Vulcano, Panarea, Basiluzzo, Lisca Bianca, and Stromboli. The main habitats are maquis, rocky areas and garrigue. The principal land-uses are agriculture and tourism.
Key biodiversity
An important area for breeding Calonectris diomedea and falcons Falco.
