Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located 7 km south-west from Emei Shan City. The highest peak is Wanfoding at 3,099 m. The entire IBA is moist and wet, with great variation at different altitudes.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected animals include Panthera pardus, Ailurus fulgens, Macaca thibetana, Moschus berezovskii and Felis temmincki.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Emei Shan was designated in 1996 as a ‘World Heritage Site’ under the World Heritage Convention.
