Ecija-Osuna plain


Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
A plain, dominated by cereal cultivation, in the Guadalquivir valley. There are patches of dehesa, olive-groves and a complex of saline lakes.



Key biodiversity
This is an important area for steppic species. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Oxyura leucocephala (non-breeding) and Tetrax tetrax (20 resident pairs).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The main threats are agricultural intensification, over-exploitation of water resources and drought.



Protected areas
National Low International None66 ha of IBA covered by Natural Reserve (Complejo Endorreico de la Lantejuela, 66 ha).
