Dromo (Yadong)


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located on the southern slopes of the Himalayas, in Yadong County. The vegetation shows prominent vertical zonation, with broadleaf evergreen forest (1,800-2,500 m), coniferous-broadleaf mixed forest (2,500-3,000 m), alpine coniferous forest (3,000-4,000 m) and alpine scrub (above 4,000 m).

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: The fish Salmo trutta can only be found in this area. Other nationally protected animals include Presbytis entellus (a primate endemic to the Himalayas), Ursus arctos, Selenarctos thibetanus, Ailurus fulgens, Moschus chrysogaster and Capricornis sumatraensis.
