Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context

Located at the southern tip of Luoshan County, on the northern slopes of the Dabie Shan mountains. Most of the IBA lies within the Huai He watershed, but water from two areas flows into the Yangtze River. Of the forest in the IBA, 4,646 ha are used for forestry and 5,354 ha as commune forest.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected plants include Emmenopterys henryi and Ginkgo biloba. Animals include Panthera pardus, Lutra lutra and Viverra zibetha.

Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity

Established as a provincial-level nature reserve (10,000 ha) in 1982.
