Site description (2000 baseline)
An area of limestone valleys with vegetation reflecting both central European and Mediterranean influences. Woodland comprises conifers such as Pinus nigra, as well as areas dominated by deciduous Fagus, Fraxinus and Carpinus. Steep limestone slopes, clearings and grasslands are also present.

Key biodiversity
An important site for breeding raptors and other species associated with upland rocky habitats and forest. The area is also used by migrants.
