Dayao Shan Nature Reserve


Site description (2009 baseline):

Site location and context
Located in the central part of Guangxi Autonomous Region. The main habitats in the IBA are broadleaf evergreen forest in the north and broadleaf evergreen monsoon forest in the south. Human disturbance is severe below 1,000 m, but the native forests above 1,300 m are relatively well preserved. There are seven administration areas within the nature reserve, and 8,150 ha of agricultural land.

Key biodiversity

Non-bird biodiversity: Nationally protected species include Shinisaurus crocodilurus and Cathaya argyrophylla.



Conservation responses/actions for key biodiversity
Established as a provincial-level nature reserve in 1982.
