Site description (2000 baseline):

Site location and context
An intact part of the Danube valley with flooded areas, wet meadows, oxbows and riverine forests.



Key biodiversity
This is an important site for wintering waterbirds. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Aythya nyroca (wintering), Crex crex (breeding), Acrocephalus paludicola (passage).



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The site is threatened by major alterations to the river, including construction of dykes to facilitate ship navigation and the installation of power-plants. The surrounding land is threatened by agricultural intensification.



Protected areas
National Partial International LowIBA overlaps with Landscape Protected Area and Nature Reserve. 612 ha of IBA overlaps with 3 Special Protection Areas.
