Site description (2000 baseline):
Site location and context
A reservoir connected to the River Danube, with small reedbeds (
Phragmites) and patches of forest. The site also includes the lower reaches of the River Riß and the dredged ponds near Rißtissen. A hydroelectric power-station is situated adjacent to the reservoir.
The site is important for wintering waterbirds. Breeding birds include
Ciconia ciconia.
