Site description (2000 baseline)
A reservoir connected to the River Danube, with small reedbeds (Phragmites) and patches of forest. The site also includes the lower reaches of the River Riß and the dredged ponds near Rißtissen. A hydroelectric power-station is situated adjacent to the reservoir.

Key biodiversity
The site is important for wintering waterbirds. Breeding birds include Ciconia ciconia.
