Site location and context
The site is dominated by mixed
Quercus and
Fagus forest with
Pinus plantations.
The area is important for breeding and passage raptors and resident species of forest, scrub and arable land. Breeding birds include seven of the 21 species that are restricted in Europe to the Mediterranean biome (when breeding). Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria:
Aquila clanga (passage),
Aquila heliaca (passage),
Falco naumanni.
Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
Part of the area is a candidate SAC.

International None1,930 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Poulia/Mikrou Dereiou-Soufliou, 1,930 ha). 9,100 ha of IBA covered by Wildlife Refuge (Trion Vryseon/Dadias-Mikrou Dereiou, 9,100 ha).
