Site description (2000 baseline)
An area of wetland with numerous pools and fish-ponds close to the River Prut. Aquatic vegetation is well developed and includes reedbeds (Phragmites); there are also areas of Salix and Populus.
Key biodiversity
This is an important breeding, wintering and stop-over site for waterbirds. Seventy-four species have been recorded. Species of global conservation concern that do not meet IBA criteria: Phalacrocorax pygmeus (2-20 non-breeding birds).
