Site location and context
Plain area in the Baixo Alentejo, with cultures of cereals and some places with evergreen woodland of oaks.



Key biodiversity
It is an important area for steppic species. Includes about 10% of the national population of Falco naumanni and during the postnuptial season are important the populations of Otis tarda (5%) and Tetrax tetrax.Burhinus oedicnemus is common in this area.



Pressure/threats to key biodiversity
The area has not a conservation statute and is included in the watering irrigation area of Alqueva. Construction of an electric line, also for Alqueva, could cause disturbance to birds.
